John 1:23 NLT: “John (the Baptist) replied in the words of the prophet Isaiah: ‘I am a voice shouting in the wilderness; clear the way for the Lord’s coming!’”
Jesus said that he will return. The Lord IS coming again! So many other things in the Bible have proven true that I accept this as also being true. So until the day of his return, we continue to share the Good News of the redemptive value of a relationship with Jesus.
My church is in south Minneapolis, a major metropolitan area filled with false prophets and teachers of evil. There’s an abundance of apathy. We have Good News to share, but some days it seems no one wants to hear it! I can identify with John the Baptist, “shouting in the wilderness!”
And yet we persist. John the Baptist didn’t give up, even when arrested, even when put to death. The mission is to show the world that there’s a better way, that in spite of how things may first appear, there’s everlasting hope!
Jesus defines hope for the world!
