For Friday, March 3, 2023:
Matthew 9:20-21 NLT: “Just then a woman who had suffered for twelve years with constant bleeding came up behind him. She touched the fringe of his robe, for she thought, ‘If I can just touch his robe, I will be healed.’”
This is a sidebar to a story already in progress. Jesus was helping the synagogue leader whose daughter had died. He was on his way to their house when this suffering woman approached and touched him, believing that would be enough to heal her. It was! Jesus goes on to say, ““Daughter, be encouraged! Your faith has made you well.”
This woman was healed, and the synagogue leader’s daughter was brought back from the dead, but I believe the purpose of this scripture is not about healing or resurrection. It’s about faith, the un-shakable belief that Jesus was the promised Messiah, the Son of the Living God. Through faith, you and I can claim him as our Savior. He can correct anything that’s wrong in our lives, preparing us for eternal life in God’s presence! Hope to see you there!
We pray, “Father God, increase our faith. Amen!”
