For Sunday, March 19, 2023:
John 11:4-5 NLT: “Jesus told them, (disciples of John-the-Baptist,) ‘Go back to John and tell him what you have heard and seen—the blind see, the lame walk, those with leprosy are cured, the deaf hear, the dead are raised to life, and the Good News is being preached to the poor.’”
The question had been, “Who is Jesus? Is he the Messiah? Is he the one for whom they had been waiting?” John-the-Baptist sent some disciples to ask the questions since he was imprisoned.
Jesus simply tells them to use their eyes and ears. Observe what’s been happening around Jesus. Never before seen miracles, that’s what!
In my mind, I picture everything calm as Jesus approaches. Then he preaches the Good News and miraculously heals those who need healing. As his itinerant ministry moves down the road, I picture commotion and excitement in the aftermath! Everyone is amazed by what just happened, and they can’t stop talking about the heaven-sent miracles! Jesus coming to town was indeed Good News! And for me, these eyewitness accounts clearly point to the Son of the Most High!
