Genesis 1:31 NLT: “Then God looked over all he had made, and he saw that it was very good! And evening passed and morning came, marking the sixth day.”
Lately I’ve been telling a confirmed Atheist about Jesus, God and the Bible. His first objection came up in Genesis ch. 1. (He didn’t get very far into the Bible; but at least he has one!) According to him, the fact that everything was created in six days is simply impossible. Too much work; too little time! Couldn’t be done, according to him!
Realize that God didn’t just create our earth. He created universes, galaxies, everything in the skies, much farther than we can see. It was a big job, but let us not constrain God with human limitations. God is super-natural, a super-power of all the worlds. He can easily accomplish things that humans can only dream of. There is no evidence that creation happened differently than how it’s described in Genesis.
But as an alternate point of view, I have to ask, what is a “day?” Until our galaxy was created, until the earth was put in place and started spinning around itself, there was no “day.” The sun would not come up in the morning, or go down in the evening. Before creation, there was no definition of “day!” But God made it so! Now day and night come and go in 24 hours!
Our Atheist has now attended church twice, with a surprisingly open mind! Now he has started to tell me what happened at the church he attended last Sunday!
