For Wednesday, September 14, 2022:
Mark 5:6-8 NLT: “When Jesus was still some distance away, the man saw him, ran to meet him, and bowed low before him. With a shriek, he screamed, ‘Why are you interfering with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? In the name of God, I beg you, don’t torture me!’ For Jesus had already said to the spirit, ‘Come out of the man, you evil spirit.’”
The evil spirit’s name was Legion, which in Roman army terms could mean between 3,000 and 6,000 soldiers. That’s a lot of evil in one guy! Common sense tells us when the man is speaking and when the evil spirits were speaking through the man. Interestingly, the spirits all knew exactly who Jesus was, and the power he had against them. Of course Jesus healed the man, casting out all the demons.
We live in a fallen world. In these modern times people tend to forget that demons are real, that they try to possess individuals all the time and that calling upon the name of Jesus is the best solution to cleanse the situation. Jesus has cast out demons before, and he can and will do it again, so that believers can belong to him, not to Satan!
Jesus is the answer for the evil in our world!
