For Sunday, September 4, 2022:
Mark 5:27-28 NLT: “The woman had heard about Jesus, so she came up behind him through the crowd and touched his robe. For she thought to herself, ‘If I can just touch his robe, I will be healed.’”
This woman had been plagued with bleeding for 12 years. She believed Jesus was the promised Messiah, and had heard of his healing powers. Jesus was on his way to heal the daughter of the Synagogue leader, and 2,000 years ago it would have been improper for any female to initiate a conversation with a male. If she could get close enough to just touch his robe, she believed she would be healed. That’s faith!
This lesson in faith is for all of us. God can redeem us out of character defects and shortcomings. Most importantly, God can forgive our sins and make believers suitable for eternal residence in heaven! After all, that’s why Jesus came to walk alongside us – to rescue mankind!
Jesus is the “Almighty Redeemer” – we just need faith!
