God's Timing!

For Sunday, May 14, 2023:

John 7:30 NLT: “Then the leaders tried to arrest Jesus; but no one laid a hand on him, because his time had not yet come.”

Jesus was a mystery to the locals. As the harvest concluded, he declined attending the festival of shelters out of concerns for safety, but later changed his mind and was eventually found teaching publicly in the Temple! Most people hadn’t yet settled their minds on Jesus’ origin and identity. Was he a magician with incredible tricks up his sleeve? Was he evil, obtaining his power from Satan? Or, admittedly a long shot, he could be the promised Messiah! Who do you say that he is?

Eyewitnesses saw only a snapshot in Jesus’ life, but we have been blessed with the Gospels, the collection of stories about Jesus’ walk on earth. We’ve been given the big picture with all the details, more than just a single incident!

Remember that Jesus is on a mission trip with the goal of rescuing mankind from the penalty of sin. That goal would be achieved in God’s good time. Jesus walked away from his accusers, because it was not yet his hour, and God is in charge of the clock!
