Who IS This Man?

For Sunday, July 10, 2022:

Mark 4:41b NLT: “Who is this man?” the disciples asked each other. “Even the wind and waves obey him!”

Interestingly, the disciples were following Jesus, but they didn’t know exactly who he was. Perhaps a prophet, certainly a Rabbi, a religious teacher. The title, “Son of the Living God,” hadn’t yet been proffered.

But Jesus had just calmed a storm. “Who is this man? Even the wind and the waves obey him?” Everyone in the boat was saved, but the disciples were left scratching their heads. “Who IS this man?”

Then Jesus asked them, “Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?” These same words apply when transitioning to the life after this life. Those who put their faith, hope and trust in the Son will be given the gift of eternity in heaven. We no longer need to fear death! Now, do you know who he is?

Being rescued by the Son always requires faith!
