Love Your Neighbor!

For Friday, July 15, 2022:

1 John 4:7-8 NIV: “Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.”

Surprisingly, in Jesus’ day, ‘loving your neighbor’ was a new concept. ‘Looking out for #1’ was the norm. There was a lot of ‘I’ and not much ‘we.’ “If I follow the laws and traditions, then I’ll get to the afterlife,” with no regard for family or friends.

Jesus changed everything! Caring for others took on a new priority. We’re to love our neighbors just as much as we love ourselves. Regarding a life after this life, Jesus said we should make disciples of ALL nations. Sharing the Good News is the way Jesus said we should live.

God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. God loves mankind so much that he chose to rescue us! So love your neighbor - follow God’s example!
