Matthew 10:40b NLT, Jesus speaking: “Anyone who receives me receives the Father who sent me.”
God’s people were promised a Messiah, and Jesus fit the description. But the Temple leaders would stand to lose power and money if they abandoned what they were doing in favor of this new guy, Jesus. So they didn’t.
But Jesus said, “I and the Father are one.” It’s pretty clear that he wasn’t sent by a different god, that he wasn’t representing a different religion. Having mankind’s sins forgiven through the work of Jesus should have been the next step in worshiping our Creator God. That way, we have hope eternal!
God’s desire is that none would perish, and with Jesus, those who believe are a step closer to God’s goal!
