Mark 6:2 NLT: “The next Sabbath Jesus began teaching in the synagogue, and many who heard him were amazed. They asked, “Where did he get all this wisdom and the power to perform such miracles?”
Wouldn’t we all want a Savior who was wise and could perform amazing miracles? In His day, people had been expecting a promised Messiah. They had been watching, hoping to latch onto such a Redeemer. And here he was, standing right in their midst! Jesus was offering hope!
Too good to be true? Jesus was, after all, a local boy, son of a builder. This was Mary and Joseph’s son, so belief in him as a deity was challenging. But today we know the end of the story. We know everything written about Jesus is true, so we are the beneficiaries of that hope!
“A prophet is honored everywhere except in his own hometown.” – Jesus.
