Luke 7:21 NRSV: “Jesus had just then cured many people of diseases, plagues, and evil spirits, and had given sight to many who were blind.”
John the Baptist wanted to confirm that Jesus was indeed the promised Messiah, so he sent a couple of his followers to check it out.
Jesus told them to use their eyes; tell John what you see. Use your ears; listen to the testimony of those who were healed. No one else could have performed these miracles. Jesus had to have been heaven-sent!
The Holy Bible is our religious book, but I should point out that it’s also an extremely accurate book of history. If you knew nothing of religion but read this only as a record of what actually happened, you’d find yourself becoming a fan of Jesus of Nazareth. And when Jesus says, “Follow me,” you’d be checking it out.
Considering everything Jesus did, there really is no other choice. Jesus – restorer of hope!
