August 14, 2023 Monday Message:
Romans 5:8 NLT: “God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
The ultimate in dedication to a cause is if someone would give their life for it. Think about it: For all the things in this life that we support, on which we have opinions, that cause us to take sides – is there anything for which you would give your life? For me, unless Jesus himself was counseling otherwise, I believe that I’d choose to stay alive!
But in Jesus’ case, he was fulfilling the plan of Father God! That plan was to free mankind from our sin problem; for Jesus – in dying – to take the sins of the world to the place of the dead and leave them there. When Jesus’ mission was complete, we were separated from sin as far as the east is from the west. Sin was at the bottom of the deepest ocean, leaving mankind undefiled, suitable for spending eternity in God’s heavenly Kingdom!
On the cross, Jesus said, “It is finished.” Mission accomplished, task complete. It’s like Jesus is saying, “Don’t worry – I’ve got this. God’s plan for reconciliation with his people is in motion, and you don’t have to worry about it any longer. God has chosen to include you, and I’m here to make it happen!”
