For Wednesday, June 7, 2023:
1 John 4:21 NLT: “Jesus has given us this command: Those who love God must also love their fellow believers.”
Jesus taught us to love God and love our neighbors. The two go hand in hand. In other words, love everybody!
Jesus is advocating for a trend in our lives and in our value system. People who love the Lord tend to be nice, friendly and helpful. Loving our friends is easy.
Loving our enemies is more challenging, but let’s face it, sometimes a believer falls into sin and becomes a real pain! This is a test of our forgiveness! This could be our test of reconciliation! Pray for your enemy, that Jesus would fill his heart and show him truth! Pray for radical transformation!
God might say to us, “Learn to love me, whom you cannot see, by loving my children, whom you can see!”
