Love the Lord!

For Friday, December 2, 2022:

Job 28:28 NLT: “This is what God alone says to all humanity: ‘The fear of the Lord is true wisdom; to forsake evil is real understanding.’”

We talk about being believers. We tell newcomers to ask Jesus into their heart. That’s the fear of the Lord, respect for the Lord, understanding that God is God and I am not.

That’s all good, but don’t forget the second part. While we love the Lord, we are to also forsake evil. We separate ourselves from the devil and his schemes. We don’t fall into the trap of temptation. It a delicate balance, because evangelizing requires us to lift people out of a pit. Just don’t stay in there too long!

So loving the Lord requires us to take a stand for what we believe. But above all, tell Satan to get lost!
