Worship!

For Sunday, October 4, 2020

from Genesis 13:3-4 NIV: “Abram went from place to place until he came to Bethel, to the place where he had first built an altar. There Abram called on the name of the Lord.”

Hebrew tradition places worship on Saturday, while Christians celebrate the resurrection of Jesus on Sunday. A case can be made for either.

There’s a long history of setting work aside and dedicating a day to the Lord. We all have a picture in our minds of what it looks like to attend a worship service. But so much has changed since Covid-19.

Many churches still do the same kind of service – but with no congregation present. A lot of churches utilize Facebook Live Stream. My daughter has “Zoom” church, where the attendees can interact with one another. Large churches have their own video channel connected to their website. A few churches, like JICF, have reopened.

The important thing is that whatever our local church is able to do, we participate. We celebrate the Sabbath because that’s what Jesus did, and following Jesus gives us hope!

Blessings to all on this Sabbath!
