For Tuesday. February 13, 2024:
Mark 11:23 NLT, Jesus speaking: “For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.”
Don’t worry – it’s a metaphor. We’re not really throwing mountains into the sea. Jesus is telling us to not be afraid to pray for big things. Just because no human can move a mountain doesn’t mean that God can’t. Don’t constrain God with human limitations.
Once again Jesus teaches us about great faith. Consistent and persistent prayers get results, sometimes the impossible!
A mammogram showed a tumor in a woman I know. She and her friends, her women’s group, prayed nonstop 24/7 for healing. Two weeks later she returned to the doctor so they could take a tissue sample for biopsy, and they couldn’t find the tumor. The same doctors who held a picture of the tumor said it had disappeared – vanished! I don’t know how to cure cancer, but God sure does! Put your faith and trust in him!
I know a woman who prayed every day that her rebellious son would become a Christian. She had just turned 89 when he accepted Jesus. Faith. Never stop praying for what is right.
God has three answers to our prayers: yes, no, and not just yet! Yes and no are easy to understand. But anticipating God’s perfect timing challenges me.
God, increase our faith and throw in a dose of patience!
