Heavenly Citizens!

For Friday, November 11, 2022:

Philippians 3:20 NLT: “We are citizens of heaven, where the Lord Jesus Christ lives. And we are eagerly waiting for him to return as our Savior.”

When you have made a decision to follow Jesus, to make him Lord and Savior of your life, you are no longer a citizen of this earth. Your eternal residence is in heaven. Jesus will have gone ahead and prepared a place for you. Christians should take pride in their heavenly citizenship, treating others like heavenly people should treat each other. We should model our own lives after Jesus!

Jesus promised to return. Everything else he said was true, so we have every reason to expect that this is true too. At the end of this life, there will be judgment, but your sins will be forgiven, blotted out by the work Jesus did on the cross. You don’t need a passport because you’re already a citizen of heaven!

Come quickly, Lord Jesus!
