Unfailing Love!

For Friday, August 12, 2022:

John 1:17 NLT: “For the law was given through Moses, but God’s unfailing love and faithfulness came through Jesus Christ.”

The Apostle John is describing the primary difference between the Pharisees and Jesus. The Pharisees claimed to know the Lord. They followed all the ‘rules’ detailed in the Law given to Moses on Mt. Sinai. They tried to appear religious, but they forgot to love the Lord and had no time for others.

Jesus said that with the New Covenant, God’s ‘rules’ were written on our hearts. In other words, we were given a conscience, intuitively knowing right from wrong. We no longer have to write down that it’s wrong to steal or to take another’s life. We already know. Let good judgement and common sense prevail!

Jesus came to open our eyes to the extreme love the Father has for mankind. Why should we love our neighbors? Because that’s what Jesus did!
