For Saturday, August 6, 2022:
James 2:14 NLT: “What good is it, dear brothers and sisters, if you say you have faith but don’t show it by your actions? Can that kind of faith save anyone?”
If someone claims to be a Christian but behaves like a pagan, James is questioning the legitimacy of their faith. He goes on to say, “Faith by itself isn’t enough. Unless it produces good deeds, it is dead and useless.”
Caring for your fellows was a new concept at the time. Most people cared for themselves and maybe a few family members, but loving one another was a new behavior introduced by Jesus. Like the song says, “They will know we are Christians by our love,” and Jesus insisted on it.
People lined up for healing miracles, and Jesus worked into the night until all were served. He didn’t just feed 50 – he fed all 5,000!
Loving his brothers and sisters was a way of life for Jesus!
