Compassion!

For Tuesday, June 7, 2022:

James 4:17 NLT: “Remember, it is sin to know what you ought to do and then not do it.”

We can sin by doing bad things, but we can also sin by not doing good things. Jesus’ main beef with the Temple Leaders was that they were not loving their neighbor. While they were trying to observe every little detail of the Law, they had forgotten compassion. Jesus must have been reminded of Leviticus 19:18. “Don't be angry or try to take revenge. I am the Lord, and I command you to love others as much as you love yourself.”

Jesus taught us to care for the sick and the poor. We are also to care for widows and orphans. Jesus taught that we should think more about others and less about ourselves. We are to be nice, pleasant, and seek ways in which to be helpful.

We should model our lives after our Redeemer out of gratitude for what he did for us!
