Acts 15:11 NLT, Paul speaking: “We believe that we are all saved the same way, by the undeserved grace of the Lord Jesus.”
This scripture points to another tenet of Christianity: “sola gratia” or “by grace alone.” Grace is undeserved favor - it’s the work Jesus did that arranged for our redemption, not anything we did or can do. If heaven looks like a good thing, doing more “stuff” won’t get you there. But claiming Jesus as your Savior, as Lord of your life, makes it possible to see heaven from the inside.
Ephesians 2:8-9 states that we are saved by grace through faith. “Grace alone” means that God loves, forgives and saves us not because of who we are or what we do, but because of the work of Christ. If you’re with Jesus, you’ve been blessed with the gift of “Assurance of Salvation,” never having to wonder if you’re “in” or “out.” When you get to heaven’s gate, just point to Jesus and say, “I’m with that guy!”
It’s not what you can do – it’s what Jesus already did!
