Hot or Cold!

December 11, 2023 Monday Message:

Revelation 3:15 NLT, to the church in Laodicea: “I know all the things you do, that you are neither hot nor cold. I wish that you were one or the other!”

I have heard several pastors recently who claim that we are in the end times of the end times! While none of us should attempt to out-guess God’s timing for Jesus’ return, he gave us signs to watch for that would let us know when the end is near. Each day we draw one day closer.

As Christians, we are God’s hands and feet on earth. We are to share the Good News with ALL nations. How are we coming with our assignment? I believe God wishes we would do a bit better.

It seems that some church members become complacent. I once worked for a church where the comptroller referred to these spiritually dead believers as “butts in the pew.” That doesn’t sound too kind, but I think he was right. These people took up space and added their $15-25 to the collection each week, but otherwise did nothing. They had grown lukewarm. They were no longer on fire for Jesus. But the Bible asks us for a clear decision. We should either be on fire for Jesus, or reject him completely. When you’re in the wishy-washy middle ground, heaven isn’t sure where you stand. We need to let the world know what their decision should be!

In these end times, complacent Christianity won’t cut it! Never did, never will.
