Acts 5:25 ESV: “Look! The men whom you put in prison are standing in the temple and teaching the people.”
Peter and John had been imprisoned for teaching and healing in the name of Jesus. The man they healed was well-known to everyone, the healing was “good,” and the whole town knew what had happened. Therefore, no conviction, no penalty. The disciples were released on the condition that they teach no more in the name of Jesus.
Don’t ever make the mistake of thinking you can stifle the Good News of Jesus’ salvation! He himself said that if mankind didn’t proclaim the truth, the stones would shout it out! God will not let the truth be silent, because the truth brings hope to the world.
Keep the saving truth of Jesus front of mind as you celebrate Independence Day – Happy July 4th!
