For Saturday, September 5, 2020.
Romans 1:17 NLT: “The Good News tells us how God makes us right in his sight. This is accomplished from start to finish by faith. As the Scriptures say, ‘It is through faith that a righteous person has life.’”
The word ‘Gospel’ also translates as Good News, and this is Good News indeed! It’s describing the way to life, which in this case means eternal life in the presence of God the Father.
It may seem strange, that our eternal salvation is a free gift, dependent upon us believing that Jesus was who he said he was and believing that Jesus can and will do what he said he would do. Jesus promised we would be saved through faith in him – that he could open the door of heaven for us. Jesus said that he would go ahead to prepare a place for us in the hereafter. Do you believe this? If it were not so, he would have told us!
Faith in the Son will get us through this life, and assure us a place in the next, and that’s Good News!
