For Tuesday, August 11, 2020.
Matthew 3:2 NLT, John the Baptist speaking: “Repent of your sins and turn to God, for the Kingdom of Heaven is near.”
John’s was not an original message. God had been wanting mankind to turn (or return) to him ever since the Garden of Eden. It’s what Abraham did. Moses counseled the Egyptian Hebrews to get on board with that plan. King David sinned, and himself became a prime example of someone returning to the Lord!
And 2,000 years ago, with the Son of God being born in Bethlehem, the Kingdom of Heaven was indeed near! God’s desire is that none would perish, so his plan was to send Jesus to personally cover mankind’s sin-problem. Then Jesus could personally welcome each of his followers into the eternal Kingdom!
God loves you, Jesus loves you, and the Holy Spirit was sent to love you until Jesus returns! Your job is to simply turn from the darkness and face the light! And with your eternal destination secure, problems of this world become less significant, less intrusive.
I don’t know when Jesus is returning, but I know that as each day passes, it’s one day closer!
Blessings and safety to you all today!
