For Saturday, March 09, 2024:
Isaiah 6:11b NLT, God, answering Isaiah’s ‘how long’ question: “Until the cities lie ruined and without inhabitant, until the houses are left deserted and the fields ruined and ravaged.”
It seems that at that time, God wasn’t on the Israelite’s agenda. If they don’t have time for God, he won’t have time for them either. No one goes where they’re not welcomed!
But if God is giving them space, that means his hand of protection will no longer be on the promised land, leaving them vulnerable to attacks and catastrophe. Perhaps a new generation will give God his proper place in the pecking order of their society. Perhaps Israel needed a fresh start.
The US should proceed with a great deal of caution. Our country was founded on Judaeo-Christian principles. Our “how-to-live handbook” came from God’s word. But a recent survey showed that only 65% still believe in God, and only about 7% bother with church on any given Sunday. Signs of the end times include rampant sin and backsliding believers. Regrettably, our country qualifies.
If our country no longer has time for God, how long will it be until he no longer has time for us?
