Salvation!

For Sunday, May 15, 2022:

Romans 10:9 NLT: “If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”

Paul is getting the Romans up to speed on the ‘New Covenant.’ We are no longer under the law. Eternal salvation is no longer earned. We are saved by grace, a free gift, through our faith in Jesus. Christians tend to be good people out of gratitude for the gift they have been given, not to earn their way into heaven. We are redeemed because of our faith, not because of works.

On the road to Damascus, Paul had a first-person eyewitness encounter with the risen Jesus, who set him straight on how the New Covenant was supposed to work. You could say that Paul received his theological training right from the source, hence his passion and persistence in sharing the Good News with others.

The basics of Christianity are fairly simple so that everyone can be included!
