Holy Spirit!

For Tuesday, June 23, 2026:

John 15:26 NLT, Jesus speaking: “I will send you the Advocate—the Spirit of truth. He will come to you from the Father and will testify all about me.”

Jesus is promising that after he returns to the Father, we will not be abandoned. God himself will send us the helper we know as the Holy Spirit, described as Counselor, Advocate and Encourager. It’s like we have a lawyer, a mentor and someone to cheer for us, all in one!

Does our Holy Spirit bucket have a leak? No, I don’t think the Holy Spirit goes away, but we can drift away, backslide a little. Think of the Holy Spirit with a gauge, just like your car. When the gauge reads “E,” it’s time for a refill! We need to pull in to the Holy Spirit station, and top off our tanks!

I heard a pastor compare the Holy Spirit to an American Express card. “Don’t leave home without it,” was the advice!

Why on earth would you go through life on your own when God has provided an easily accessible helper?

Our Advocate

For Wednesday, August 5, 2020.

Matthew 11:28 NLT, Jesus speaking: “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.”

If there’s chaos in our lives, we don’t have to fight it alone. God is on our side, and Jesus is in our corner. If we’re tired and all run down from life’s problems, Jesus says, “Come to me.”

For God, there’s more than just seeing us again in heaven. He also wants to help us get there, which means intervening in our difficult situations. God doesn’t just stand on the sidelines watching us struggle with our problems. God gets right to work; he’s not afraid to get his hands dirty. After all, when the world was a mess, God dropped his Son right in the midst of people who needed a Savior!

God is still in control, and he will rescue us. Our God never says, “You’re on your own!” Instead he says, “Come to me – I can help!” Isn’t it good to know that the creator of the universe is our advocate during our time on earth!

Blessings and safety to all today!
