Psalm 119:81 CEV: “Lord, I long for you to rescue me! Your word is my only hope.”
"Psalms” isn't like other books in the Bible; it's a collection of writings by different authors, used in worship over centuries. The earliest Psalms are probably translations of Moses' writings; a large number were written by David; the most recent were penned 5 centuries before Jesus.
Since Jesus hadn't yet arrived, those loyal to God were still searching for salvation, and their rescue was described in prophetic writings of the Old Testament. Believer's faith in that Word of God gave them hope, just as OUR faith in the Word of God gives US hope!
"I'm homesick—longing for your salvation; I’m waiting for your word of hope.” (MSG)
Blessings and safety today!
