Messiah!

For Saturday, August 14, 2021

Mark 6:2 NLT:The next Sabbath Jesus began teaching in the synagogue, and many who heard him were amazed. They asked, “Where did he get all this wisdom and the power to perform such miracles?

Wouldn’t we all want a Savior who was wise and could perform amazing miracles? In His day, people had been expecting a promised Messiah. They had been watching, hoping to latch onto such a Redeemer. And here he was, standing right in their midst! Jesus was offering hope!

Too good to be true? Jesus was, after all, a local boy, son of a builder. This was Mary and Joseph’s son, so belief in him as a deity was challenging. But today we know the end of the story. We know everything written about Jesus is true, so we are the beneficiaries of that hope!

A prophet is honored everywhere except in his own hometown.” – Jesus.

Creator!

For Friday, August 13, 2021

Acts 7:50 NLT:Didn’t my hands make both heaven and earth?

If you bought a new Ford and there was a problem, you’d take it to a Ford Dealer, an implied extension of it’s creator. They give you hope that your Ford will soon be running like new.

So it logically follows that if we’re experiencing problems with life on earth, that we would bring them before the creator of heaven, earth and mankind. The creator knows how this is all supposed to work. After all, He designed everything! The Creator can easily conform our lives to His original design. He can put things back to the way they were supposed to go before mankind messed it up! He can arrange forgiveness of our disobedience so that we can spend eternity in the Creator’s presence! The Creator can fill us with hope for a much better future!

God is good...

Messiah!

For Thursday, August 12, 2021

Luke 7:21 NRSV:Jesus had just then cured many people of diseases, plagues, and evil spirits, and had given sight to many who were blind.

John the Baptist wanted to confirm that Jesus was indeed the promised Messiah, so he sent a couple of his followers to check it out.

Jesus told them to use their eyes; tell John what you see. Use your ears; listen to the testimony of those who were healed. No one else could have performed these miracles. Jesus had to have been heaven-sent!

The Holy Bible is our religious book, but I should point out that it’s also an extremely accurate book of history. If you knew nothing of religion but read this only as a record of what actually happened, you’d find yourself becoming a fan of Jesus of Nazareth. And when Jesus says, “Follow me,” you’d be checking it out.

Considering everything Jesus did, there really is no other choice. Jesus – restorer of hope!
