For Wednesday, July 8, 2020.

1 John 5:14-15 NLT: “We are confident that Jesus hears us whenever we ask for anything that pleases him. And since we know he hears us when we make our requests, we also know that he will give us what we ask for.”

There is a special bond between Jesus and those who know him as their Savior. The Good News is that our sins were wiped clean by the work Jesus did on the cross, so now we appear spotless. And without that burden of sin, we can now enjoy an extremely close relationship with the Son. Through our bond with Jesus, his will becomes our will. Jesus desires nothing but the best for us.

This scripture tells us to have confidence in prayer. There is good reason to pray if we can expect results. We should be specific. Prayer can be pointless if it doesn’t ask for anything. God cares about our entire life, and nothing is too small or too big to pray about. The most powerful prayers in the Bible understand the will and promises of God, and then ask Him to perform it.

Tuesday July 7

For Tuesday, July 7, 2020.

Hebrews 10:23 CEV: “We must hold tightly to the hope that we say is ours. After all, we can trust the one who made the agreement with us.”

We are saved by grace through faith, and the result is hope. The same God that rescued us – granted us eternal life in the presence of the Father – is also the author of hope!

So the eternal question isn’t, “Will I live forever?”

The real question should be, “Where will you be spending your time?” Will you be in the presence of God, or separated from God?

Jesus said that he would go ahead and prepare a place for each of the believers. I put my faith and hope for the future in him. We can trust the one who made the agreement with us. There is no one better!

Prodigal Nation

Monday Message – July 6, 2020.

Luke 15:20 NLT, Jesus teaching the Prodigal Son parable: “The son returned home to his father. And while he was still a long way off, his father saw him coming. Filled with love and compassion, he ran to his son, embraced him, and kissed him.”

You’ve all probably heard the parable of the Prodigal Son, who asked for his inheritance ahead of schedule, then squandered it in foolish lifestyle, and finally returned home with his tail between his legs. In our story, the “father” is a metaphor for “God,” and the “prodigal son” could be any sinner wishing to repent and return.

But pretend with me that the “prodigal son” could be a metaphor for an entire nation, a country founded upon Godly principles, but that now had fallen into secularism, putting God on the back burner. God, of course being a loving and forgiving Father, desires that none would perish. He would want the entire nation to repent and return. And God would welcome them back with open arms!

Perhaps it’s time to re-prioritize God in our nation. That’s why we tell our friends about Jesus; that’s why we invite new people to our churches – to increase God’s presence! We’re trying to give God his rightful place on the throne of our nation!
