Jesus Saves!

For Saturday, January 4, 2025:

Matthew 1:21 NLT, Angel speaking to Joseph: “Mary will have a son, and you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.”

Have you ever heard a Christian ask someone, “Are you saved?” The name “Jesus” means, “The Lord saves.” So what we’re really asking is if Jesus is YOUR Lord, and if you’re counting on him for salvation.

Knowing what “Jesus” means in the original language simplifies things. Nothing and no one else found on earth fit that definition. The only thing that God promises will save us from eternal suffering is this one guy, His Son, Jesus the Christ. So we are to put our faith, hope and trust in him. He IS the way; there is no other way!

As mankind transitions to the next reality, God will separate the sheep from the goats. The good sheep will be taken care of by the Good Shepherd, and I want to be in that group!

So stop, and tell your neighbors to stop looking for another way. Jesus is the only way, sent from heaven to earth with a specific purpose: the rescue of mankind! Let him help you!

The Lord Saves!

December 26, 2022 Monday Message:

Matthew 1:21 NLT, Angel of the Lord to Joseph: “Mary will have a son, and you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.”

Today is the second day of Christmas, when we celebrate the arrival of the Son of God. Back then, given names had specific meanings. The angel of the Lord said to name Mary’s son “Jesus,” which means “The Lord saves.” Imagine naming your son, “Redeemer!”

But for us, this is the best news ever! Mankind had been battling sin ever since Adam and Eve, and we were out of options. But God, who made mankind in his image, loved us so much that he sent his son to personally be our sin-offering, to make us right with God. Finally mankind had a chance to see heaven from the inside! And it was all possible because of Jesus coming to earth!

The Lord had this all planned out for quite some time. If we didn’t need rescuing, God wouldn’t have sent a Redeemer to save us!

Merry Christmas!

Psalms 68 - The Family of God

October 31, 2016 Monday Message:

“God sets the lonely in families.” Psalms 68:6a NIV
Your church should be like your second home, and your “church family” should be your new extended family. Some of us have earthly families; some of us do not. But God welcomes us ALL into HIS family with open arms. When you’ve been adopted into the Holy Family, that’s your forever home. Your best friends are there. It’s your sanctuary when the world around you is dishing out tribulation.

“From your bounty, God, you provided for the poor.” Psalms 68:10b
Jesus taught us to love each other, to care for each other, and to share. If someone in God’s family has been blessed with abundance, that’s so they can help fellow family members and others.

“Our God is a God who saves.” Psalms 68:20a
When we pass from this life to the next life, the whole family will get to see heaven from the inside. Jesus has made it so that we can spend eternity in the presence of the Almighty, and that’s really Good News!
