Re-turn to God!

For Tuesday, August 8, 2023:

Psalm 44:23-24 NLT: “Wake up, O Lord! Why do you sleep? Get up! Do not reject us forever. Why do you look the other way? Why do you ignore our suffering and oppression?”

This situation reminds me of one of my favorite analogies. Each day as evening comes, we say the sun sets. In fact the sun is right where it’s always been. It’s the earth that turned away from the sun!

Now pretend with me that the sun represents God, and we’re all on the earth. God never leaves us. God never sleeps. If mankind has trouble connecting with God, it may be that we turned away! Perhaps God lost his priority in our lives. Perhaps sin distracted us. Whatever the reason, the solution is to turn, to re-turn to God. Give him that place of honor in your life, like he deserves. Vow to never backslide again!

On a larger scale, consider our country. In the US, only 64% identify as Christian, and fewer than half of them bother to attend a church. NPR reports that America’s Christian majority is on track to end! In other words, more and more people in the US are turning away from the Lord. Yes, our country is in trouble. Yes, as a country we need to stop backsliding and give God the place of honor we promised, “One nation, under God!” Only the Lord can get our nation back on track.

God is right where he’s always been, waiting to hear from us!

God's People!

For Saturday, October 9, 2021

Leviticus 26:12 NLT, God speaking: “I will walk among you; I will be your God, and you will be my people.”

God clearly desires a relationship with mankind, but it needs to be a reciprocal, bi-directional relationship. He has agreed to be our God, with mankind being his people. We need to agree to be his people, and acknowledge him as our God. Over the years, the people wax and wane over this relationship, whereas God’s position is solid, like a rock, unchanging. God will always be there for us if we seek him.

Knowing we are irrevocably God’s people gives us hope!

Forever!

For Wednesday, August 4, 2021

Jeremiah 33:25 NLT: “This is what the Lord says: I would no more reject my people than I would change my laws that govern night and day, earth and sky.”

Remember that our God is forgiving and loving. We don’t always make the grade, but He’s a God of second-chances. God will give us a do-over on life, give us a re-start, let us take a mulligan. One more chance, please!

The Lord said, “I will be your God, and you can be my people!” That’s forever! God’s not about to change his mind. He won’t go back on his word. God’s love for mankind is as secure as that laws governing day and night, and that fills us with hope!

There will be light again tomorrow!

Forever!

For Wednesday, May 5, 2021 (¡Feliz Cinco de Mayo!)

Isaiah 40:8 NLT: “The grass withers and the flowers fade, but the word of our God stands forever.”

God-the-Creator existed before the beginning of our world. He’s like a rock, unchanging, the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. God will still be around when everything else has worn out and faded away.

Grass and flowers are of this world. They look desirable now, but they’ll soon pass away. There’s no ‘substance,’ nothing of eternal significance.

That’s why we put our faith, hope and trust in the Lord. Believers tie our souls to the one who stands forever. We want a little piece of ‘eternal.’

Our hope is in our unchanging God!

Blessings and safety to all today!
