Plant Seeds!

For Wednesday, October 15, 2025:

John 14:22 NLT: “Judas (not Judas Iscariot, but the other disciple with that name) said to Jesus, ‘Lord, why are you going to reveal yourself only to us and not to the world at large?’”

As churches grow, they seem to attract seekers, people searching for the truth about God, Jesus and religion. If a person is looking for Jesus, they will likely find him. But if that person isn’t seeking the Lord, any information about God is superfluous. It’s the right answer, but our person hasn’t asked that question yet!

So the question shouldn’t be, “Will Jesus reveal himself?” A better question would be, “Will the seeker be searching for the Son?” Is their mind open to new information? Is the timing right to connect with this soul?

I believe in planting seeds. If we plant a little Jesus information here and a little more there, our spiritual garden will one day blossom! Planting seeds is enables curiosity, and the curious will be inspired to seek truth!

Christians are blessed in that we already know the truth!

Ask, Seek, Knock!

For Thursday, April 3, 2025:

John 14:22 NLT, Jesus took a question: “Lord, why are you going to reveal yourself only to us and not to the world at large?”

If you have no idea where you’re going, how will you know when you’ve arrived? And if you don’t know what you’re looking for, how will you know when you’ve found it? Those seeking the Lord will find him. Those not seeking the Lord can’t identify him. Like I said, they don’t know what they’re looking for!

As Christians, it’s our job to enlighten the unbeliever. We’re to light the fire of insatiable curiosity in the hearts of potential seekers. They need to know about sin in the world, and their inherent need to be forgiven. They need to know that death is not the end; that there’s life after this life. They need to know about the misery of hell and the joyfulness of heaven.

We get to choose between spending eternity in God’s presence or Satan’s presence. Christians have already made that choice. Those entrusted with the Good News should counsel others to make that same wise decision.

No one really wants to spend eternity bobbing in a lake of fire!

Closer to God!

 For Sunday, February 5, 2023:

Matthew 6:33 NLT, Jesus speaking: “Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.”

Jesus’ ultimate goal is to redeem mankind from our sinful ways. That’s why he came to walk alongside mankind. Jesus is to see to it that the children of God can spend eternity with their Father in heaven. As you might expect, Jesus gives good advice and simplifies the process.

Rather than concentrating on a list of do’s and don’ts, Jesus counseled the believes to first seek the kingdom. Get closer to God. If you’re living your life in such a way as to seek the Lord, you won’t need the list!

Any good parent makes sure that their children have everything they need, and our Father in Heaven is no exception. Our omniscient God knows who is living for him and who is truly seeking him. He will provide for them and take care of them until he calls them home. Then they will enjoy eternal care!
