False Prophets

For Wednesday, November 29, 2023:

Romans 16:17b NLT, Paul speaking: “Watch out for people who cause divisions and upset people’s faith by teaching things contrary to what you have been taught. Stay away from them.

Truth is God’s opinion on everything. With God, there’s no gray area. It’s either black or white, either right or wrong. There is no middle ground. Jesus said those who are not with me are against me. It’s a strong admonition: Those who are not on the same page as God might as well get out. If you’re not going to agree with God, why try to hang out with him?

We’re surrounded by churches with a cross on top and “Jesus” in their name. But the true test is if they have a Bible in their hand and on the lectern, front and center in the church. If the preaching and teaching adhere to the Bible, we have a good start. Many divisions in churches start with errant teaching. A lot of times it’s someone putting their personal agenda on top of God’s teaching. But believers say, “Sola Scriptura,” only scripture, only God’s word determines what we believe and what we do.

We’ll see more false teachers as we draw closer to Jesus’ return. So beware – don’t fall into a theological trap! Teach your eyes and ears to discern truth, and keep a Bible in your hand.

Walk with the Lord today, and have a safe and blessed day!

Memorial Day!

May 30, 2022 Monday Message:

Matthew 5:9 NLT: “God blesses those who work for peace, for they will be called the children of God.

When it comes to fighting wars, the US takes a ‘non-aggressor’ position. We’re not trying to get more land or take-over another country. My father defended our country in WW2. The US didn’t enter that war until our navy was attacked at Pearl Harbor. The peace had been broken, so then we retaliated. When our country was attacked on 9/11, we retaliated. But the goal is peace.

Every night on TV we can see the results of war in Ukraine, the deaths and the devastation. Our country supports them with money and munitions, but the goal is to stop the aggression and establish peace.

Is world peace possible? Perhaps not! Evil people with sin in their hearts confound the peacemakers. And Jesus said that there will be wars and rumors of wars until he returns. The second-coming judgement may be what is ultimately required for sustainable world peace. But we still pray for the persecuted, the victims, the widows left behind and their children.

Today is Memorial Day, formerly Decoration Day, in the US. We honor those who died defending our country establishing the peace we know.

"Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
