Sanctified!

For Wednesday, June 12, 2024:

1 Peter 2:9 NLT: “You are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.”

Followers of Jesus are different. They were hand-selected by God, sanctified, set apart from the general population. If you’re a part of that group, God has something special in mind for you. You have a purpose in his vast eternal plan!

Friends, our lives should be an example of living in the goodness of God. We should be doing our best to love the Lord and to love our neighbors. That’s an uncommon way for most people to live. But by living God’s way, we can teach others the goodness of God. We can lead by example! Christianity can grow through attraction!

Talk about being blessed! If you’re a believer, God called you out of the darkness (a sinful world) and into the light, a perfect world hosted by Jesus the Christ. God only wants the best for you, and he has great plans for you!

Remember to say ‘yes’ when God taps you on the shoulder!

God Always!

For Tuesday, November 30, 2021

1 Chronicles 16:34 ESV: “Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever!

At church we shout out: “God is good – all the time!” That’s easy to believe when life is going well. But God is just as good when things aren’t going your way!

I love the story of the footprints in the sand, two sets of footprints walking along. As the story goes, one set of footprints is yours, the other is God’s. All of a sudden there was only one set of footprints, and the question is asked, “What happened?”

God answers, “That’s when I was carrying you!”

Last Sunday, Ken Wilson, a good friend of mine, was asked to share his testimony at Grace Church. It’s near the end of the service on their website. Ken spoke of God’s faithfulness, walking alongside him as he battles cancer. It’s a lot like Psalm 23, walking through the valley of the shadow of death, and not being afraid because God is with you – always!

Stick with God, “who will not leave you or forsake you!”

Thanksgiving Prep!

For Wednesday, November 17, 2021

Psalm 95:2 NLT: “Let us come to the Lord with thanksgiving. Let us sing psalms of praise to him.

What comes into your mind when you hear the word, “Thanksgiving?” Does the whole family get together? Do you roast a big turkey with dressing and mashed potatoes? The US celebrates Thanksgiving on Nov. 25 this year, one week from tomorrow. You still have time to get ready. Franklin D. Rosevelt established the fourth Thursday in November as our country’s Thanksgiving holiday. It’s both a secular and a sacred celebration.

To believers, Thanksgiving is a time to acknowledge all the good things the Lord has bestowed upon us. We say, “God is good, all the time,” so we should thank Him every day. But with Thanksgiving in mind, perhaps we should do a little extra on that day. Find a few minutes to list all the goodness God has poured into your life, things that keep hope alive.

Then thank Him with your prayer!
