Praying for God's Will!

For Friday, May 22, 2026:

Romans 8:27 NLT: “The Father who knows all hearts knows what the Holy Spirit is saying, for the Spirit pleads for us believers [God’s Holy People] in harmony with God’s own will.

Do you ever have trouble expressing yourself? Do you ever have a thought in your head, but have difficulty finding the right words to express it? That’s why we should always include the Holy Spirit when we pray. Remember, the Holy Spirit was given to help us. He can convert our good thoughts into heavenly words, and the Father is always listening.

The Holy Spirit can also guide our thoughts to line up with God’s will for us. When we do not know exactly how we should pray, the Holy Spirit can intercede for us. So don’t only pray by yourself. Be sure to include the Holy Spirit, your counselor and advocate!

Mission!

For Friday, March 08, 2024:

Isaiah 6:11 NLT, Isaiah, speaking with God: “Then Isaiah asked, ‘For how long, Lord?’”

Isaiah, now a prophet of God, had been given his first assignment. He was to call out Israel over their disobedience, hence their impending doom. Israel had scriptures but never bothered to open the book. God, who had rescued them and given them the promised land, no longer held a place on their agenda.

God had warned Isaiah ahead of time that no one would listen to his preaching. Sounds like a dismal assignment. But our take-away from this should be that when God says ‘Get going,’ we should do just that: Get up and get going! We shouldn’t question the mission or the reasoning behind it if the instructions came from the Lord. We should be living out God’s will for us!

If you’re a Christian, God’s laws are written on your heart. And Jesus said the most important things are to love the Lord and love your neighbor. If you love the Lord, hang out with his people sometimes. Show up at church. And if you love your neighbor, you have to interact with them also. That way we can all share the Good News!

When God lays a mission at our feet, our response should be, “Here am I; send me!”

Kingdom!

For Friday, January 27, 2023:

Matthew 6:10 NIV, Jesus speaking: “Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

The first part of Jesus’ prayer-example is acknowledging our creator God. God’s name, his kingdom and his will should come first. We shouldn’t go right to our own requests. Put God first.

We’re praying that God’s kingdom and his supreme nature, which is well known in heaven, would also prevail on earth. We can pray this because we have trusted Jesus as our savior. Think about it: If God took over as ultimate ruler and judge of the world, many would be lost. Those who don’t know Jesus would be condemned. But God, in his wisdom, is giving mankind a break by delaying things a wee bit – a little more time for the world to get to know Jesus!

In heaven there is no disobedience and no obstacles to God’s will. God gave mankind self-will, but in this prayer we’re asking to live under his guidance. We pray with love and trust, knowing that his way is the better way.

Father God, make earth more like heaven!
