Continuous Truth!

For Saturday, June 6, 2026:

Colossians 1:23 NLT: “You must continue to believe this truth and stand firmly in it. Don’t drift away from the assurance you received when you heard the Good News. The Good News has been preached all over the world, and I, Paul, have been appointed as God’s servant to proclaim it.”

You probably already know that the word “Gospel” is translated as “Good News.” And Bible is also referred to as Truth. Once you have heard the story of Jesus, the Gospel, hang onto it firmly. Now that you know the truth, never waver in your commitment to Jesus.

This is the advice of Paul, who at first didn’t get it either. I jokingly say that Jesus slapped him upside the head on the road to Damascus, but that’s kind of what happened. Paul was struck blind for three days, led into town where a believer cleared his eyes, restoring his sight. Paul should have been quite hungry by then, but the first thing he did was to be baptized. Nothing was more important than obeying this newly discovered truth!

Paul was “all in!” How about you?

All in!

For Sunday, April 21, 2024:

Colossians 3:17 ESV: “Whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”

The new person, the born-again person, lives life, all of life, for Jesus! If you’re “all in” with the Jesus program, there’s no going back! There’s no changing your mind. Backsliding shouldn’t be an option!

I’ve previously compared a life dedicated to serving Jesus to getting into a swimming pool. The wrong way to do it is to go to the shallow end and put one toe at a time into the water, because you’re still not sure. The right way to do is to approach the deep end, get a running start, jump high in the air, and – ker-splash! If the water’s cold or hot, it doesn’t matter. You’re fully immersed in the Savior, and that’s a good place to be! Furthermore, it’s an “all in” commitment. If the going gets tough, none of us can levitate our bodies up and out of the water. Like I said, there’s no going back!

There is no decision more important than making an “all in” commitment to Jesus!

Decision?

For Sunday, September 26, 2021

Mark 8:21 NLT: “Don’t you understand yet?” Jesus asked the disciples.”

I feel like the human side of Jesus was getting a little frustrated, a little fed-up with people not believing and understanding what they had seen with their own eyes. The Pharisees were questioning everything which is to be expected, but his own disciples? Jesus wants them to ‘get it,’ and then lock it in their minds, making a lifetime commitment to the truth.

Jesus questioned his followers: “You have eyes—can’t you see? You have ears—can’t you hear? When I fed the 5,000, how many baskets of leftovers did you pick up?

Twelve.”

And when I fed the 4,000, how many baskets of leftovers did you pick up?”

Seven.”

Jesus and his Father expect us all to use our eyes, ears and minds to decide once and for all who Jesus is, and to make a decision, to make an irrevocable commitment to the Lord. That way we’ll have hope!

Today is the accepted day to come to the Lord.

The Right Path!

For Saturday, July 10, 2021

Psalm 143:10 CEV:You are my God. Show me what you want me to do, and let your gentle Spirit lead me in the right path.

David is 100% committed to God Almighty. From the time he was a little shepherd-boy, he knew his place was to love the Lord. When Israel’s army was afraid, David stepped up to fight the giant Goliath, because the Philistines had disrespected David’s God. When David became king of Israel, he was God’s man for the job. Even when David sinned, he repented and returned. Deep down, he knew following God was the right thing to do.

When God wants to lead you down the path of righteousness, it all makes perfect sense if you’re 100% committed to the Lord. Following God’s direction is easy if you’re eyes are on him. He fills us with optimism and hope for this life and the next.
