Love One Another!

For Tuesday, January 13, 2026:

Hebrews 13:1 NLT: “Keep on loving each other as brothers and sisters.”

Our relationship with other believers should be special. In the original Greek, it’s called brotherly love. (Which is not to exclude sisterly love!) The city of Philadelphia takes its name from this, the City of Brotherly Love. Simply put, believers should have a family-type relationship with one another. After all, believers have been adopted as Children of God. God looks at us as being in the family, so church business is family business. We need to look out for one another!

In English, our one word for love seems inadequate. The Greek language gives us Agape, unconditional love. This is how we should love God, and how God loves us. This is full-on love, no matter what. It’s based on forgiving and forgetting. Letting go. Heaven is our forever home, and home is where when you go there, they have to let you in!

Other types of love include Eros, romantic love; Philia, friendship or brotherly love; Storge, family love or love for those with whom we’re familiar; and Philautia, self-love. We could perhaps use a little less of that one!

I’m glad my Sunday church has a monthly potluck meal after the service. It gives us a chance to better know our brothers and sisters!

God = Glory!

For Tuesday, November 7, 2023:

Romans 15:7 NLT: “Accept each other just as Christ has accepted you, so that God will be given glory.

Instinctively, taking care of one’s self kept mankind alive for 3,000 years. Most people primarily looked out for #1! Jesus changed all that! Jesus’ command to “love our neighbors” seems simple enough, but to those alive 2,000 years ago, this was a new philosophy. People saw members of “The Way” caring about their neighbors. These Christians were filled with love and kindness, and looked out for their brothers and sisters. Others saw how they lived, and liked what they saw. The Christian community was about to grow by leaps and bounds! This “Jesus Philosophy” was catching on!

Jesus came to rescue mankind while we were still sinners, and he wants us to show that same kind of love to our fellows. They may not be perfect, but we can still forgive and show love. This isn’t just to prove that we’re good people. Following Jesus’ commands honors his Father. And when we became believers, we became “children of God,” so that honors our Father too!

Honor your Father! To God be the glory!

Creator!

For Saturday, October 24, 2020

Romans 1:19 JBP: “It is not that evil people do not know the truth about God; indeed he has made it quite plain to them.”

Deep down, everyone knows that there is a God, a Creator, someone responsible for setting the universe in motion. God has written it on our hearts. If we open our eyes, it is plain to see.

Who spins the Earth so that the sun comes up every morning and sets every night? Who tilted the Earth so we could have 4 seasons? Who set the Earth the exact correct distance from the sun so we’re not too hot and not too cold? It’s obvious that Intelligent Design was involved!

So now that we all have this valuable information the question is, what are we going to do with it? God lets us choose. We can try to go it alone, or we can choose to be a member of God’s Holy Family. If you believe in His Son, God will adopt you into the Holy Family and Jesus will call you “brothers and sisters.” I choose to walk with my brother Jesus!

Blessings to all this weekend!
