Trust!

For Saturday, September 13, 2025:

Luke 19:13 NLT, Jesus tells the parable of the ten servants: “Before the nobleman left, he called together ten of his servants and divided among them ten pounds of silver, [or ten minas, about 30 month’s wages,] saying, ‘Invest this for me while I am gone.’”

The first servant returned with ten times as much as he had been given. “You are a good servant. You have been faithful with the little I entrusted to you, so you will be governor of ten cities as your reward.”

The second servant returned five times the investment. He was rewarded by being appointed governor over five cities.

The next servant didn’t do so well. He hid the principal to keep it from being stolen, but had nothing extra, explaining, “I was afraid because you are a hard man to deal with.”

"You wicked servant!” the king roared. “If you knew that I’m a hard man, why didn’t you deposit my money in the bank? At least I could have gotten some interest on it. Take the sum from this man and give it to the one who has ten.”

Understand what transpired: The master’s plan was not to make money by his servants, but to make character in them. He didn’t need them to make money, but they needed to work with him to build their character.

The lesson is this: To those who use well what they are given, even more will be given. But from those who do nothing, even what little they have will be taken away.

Believers have all been entrusted with making disciples of all nations. Whoever is faithful to the Lord will be rewarded and whoever is not will suffer loss. “Light received brings more light; light refused brings the night.” Are you prepared to receive your heavenly reward? Have you done well with the Master’s resources?
