Unconditional Faith!

For Thursday, February 6, 2025:

Exodus 14:9 NLT: “The Egyptians chased after the people of Israel with all the forces in Pharaoh’s army—all his horses and chariots, his charioteers, and his troops. The Egyptians caught up with the people of Israel.

When word reached the king of Egypt that the Israelites had fled, Pharaoh and his officials changed their minds. (Again.) “What have we done, letting all those Israelite slaves get away?” they asked. All the Israelites were to Pharaoh was free labor, and a lot of it, whereas freedom to worship their eternal God was fulfilling a Godly command for the Israelites. God vs Pharaoh – no contest!

But the people of Israel panicked when they saw the Egyptians. They cried out to the Lord and to Moses, “Why did you bring us out here to die in the wilderness? Weren’t there enough graves for us in Egypt? What have you done to us? Why did you make us leave Egypt? Didn’t we tell you this would happen while we were still in Egypt? We said, ‘Leave us alone! Let us be slaves to the Egyptians. It’s better to be a slave in Egypt than a corpse in the wilderness!’”

The Israelite population was short on faith and long on pessimism. They did not share Moses’ confidence in the Lord. They were about to begin a 40 year lesson about trusting God for everything. Jehovah Jireh – The Lord will provide!

Q: Is your faith more like Moses or the Israelites? If something doesn’t go your way, do you panic and say, “God, why did you leave me in this predicament?” Understand that God may have the next steps already worked out if you maintain unshakable faith in Him! If the God of the universe is our God, we need to trust him unconditionally.

The Egyptian soldiers had the Israelites backed up against the Red Sea. You probably all know what will happen next! Moses’ faith in God-the-provider was not misplaced!
