Jeremiah 3:22 NLT: “My wayward children,” says the Lord, “come back to me, and I will heal your wayward hearts.”
“Yes, we’re coming,” the people reply, “for you are the Lord our God.”
I've often said that if you could graph Israel's closeness to the Lord, it would look like a roller-coaster – up and down – closer to God, farther from God – over and over again. When everything was going well for Israel, they forgot about God. The people said, “Thanks for rescuing us last time, God, but we can take it from here.” They could not. On their own, trouble would soon present itself, and they'd return to God begging once again for mercy, forgiveness and redemption. Our God of love would then intervene and rescue His people time and time again, and that God-trend gives us hope!
We can apply these fundamentals to our own lives. If we repent and return to the Lord, He'll welcome us once again. Egregious sins can be forever forgiven, and our relationship with the Father can be fully restored.
We just need to take the first step!
Blessings and safety today!
