New Earth!

For Friday, June 3, 2022:

1 Peter 3:22 NLT: “Now Christ has gone to heaven. He is seated in the place of honor next to God, and all the angels and authorities and powers accept his authority.”

The Bible oftentimes explains things using metaphors we humans can understand. As a child, I pictured God, a grandfatherly gentleman, on the biggest chair in heaven, the throne, and off to his right a slightly smaller chair for Jesus. Now as an adult, I doubt if they set up chairs in Heaven. Our spirit or soul goes to be with the Lord’s spirit. God has it all worked out.

Of course we get to God’s presence through his Son Jesus, who offered believers forgiveness of sin, making us acceptable to be in the Lord’s presence. Don’t forget to thank him!

Following the second coming when God restores the New Heaven and the New Earth, when we’re given glorified bodies and God lives among his people, we may need to once again set up chairs!

The Gathering!

For Thursday, June 2, 2022:

Mark 13:26-27 NLT, Jesus speaking: “Everyone will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds with great power and glory. And he will send out his angels to gather his chosen ones from all over the world—from the farthest ends of the earth and heaven.

Jesus said, “I will never leave you or forsake you.” So essentially he said, “You guys wait here – I’m going on ahead to prepare a place for you in my Father’s house. But don’t worry - I’ll be back!”

And when he returns, it will be no secret – everyone on earth will know! All the believers will be included in this magnificent gathering of the faithful!

Everything will turn out just the way Jesus said!

Love!

For Wednesday, June 1, 2022:

1 Thessalonians 3:12, Paul speaking: “May the Lord make your love for one another and for all people grow and overflow, just as our love for you overflows.”

Some people say that God is love. I agree, but that’s an over-simplification. God is so much more – the Creator of a universe, the Creator of all living things and the perseverance to keep it all running smoothly.

Jesus said that love is what the Pharisees got wrong. They were intentional about religious ritual and tradition, and they were intentional about following the Law. But they forgot to love the Lord and to care for their neighbors.

We’re told by Jesus to think of God as our Father. He loves us and forgives us just as any parent would love their own children, and we in turn should reciprocate, showing that same love back to the Lord and to our neighbors.

Love God and love your neighbor. That’s what Jesus said!
